Mike Hooks, a dredging contractor based in Westlake, Louisiana, has placed an order for what would be the fifth vessel that will join its current active fleet.

The cutter suction dredger will be named Lorraine Hooks after the wife of company founder Mike Hooks. It will be designed and built by Mobile Pulley Works (MPW) of Mobile, Alabama, in compliance with the latest requirements and regulations from the US Coast Guard and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

Lorraine Hooks will be used on projects along the Gulf Coast.
