The Detroit District of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has awarded MCM Marine a contract for maintenance dredging of Michigan's Ontonagon Harbor on the south shore of Lake Superior.

The US$725,500 contract calls for the removal of approximately 64,000 cubic metres of material, which will then be placed east of the harbour to nourish the shoreline. This is expected to help address issues of beach erosion and lake encroachment, especially during the current period of high water.

Work for the Ontonagon Harbor dredging project could begin as early as May 2021 and is scheduled to be complete by the following August.
