Huntington Ingalls to acquire Kongsberg’s US-based unmanned systems subsidiary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has entered into an agreement to acquire Hydroid, a provider of marine robotic systems to the defence and maritime markets.

Hydroid, a Massachusetts-based unmanned systems subsidiary of Norway's Kongsberg, will become part of HII's Technical Solutions division.

The transaction, valued at US$350 million, is subject to regulatory review and customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2020.
