A vessel operated by Florida-based marine science organisation Ocearch is set to conduct a research expedition off the coast of Nova Scotia later this month.

During the expedition, Ocearch researchers will study the great white sharks that are found in large numbers in waters off the eastern Canadian province. Specifically, the sharks' reproductive health and the bacteria they carry in their mouths will be examined closely.

The expedition, which is expected to conclude on October 6, will be Ocearch's third in Nova Scotia waters since 2018, when it began tagging great white sharks in the area to identify their behaviour during mating season.
