First steel cut for three new hopper barges for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock

Conrad Shipyard in Louisiana recently held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction of three new split hopper barges ordered by Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD).

Each vessel will measure 277 by 63.5 by 27.25 feet (84.4 by 19.3 by 8.3 metres) and will have a hopper capacity of 7,100 cubic yards (5,428 cubic metres).

The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to GLDD in the second and third quarters of 2022.
