Dredging works set for Maryland’s Salisbury Port

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has confirmed that dredging works will be carried out at the Port of Salisbury, the state's second largest port.

Some of the dredged material will be used provide for local wetlands restoration, the creation of vital wildlife habitat, and the protection of infrastructure along the Manokin River to keep pace with rising sea levels. Up to 137,000 cubic yards (104,744 cubic metres) of material dredged from the port will be re-used to benefit over 70 acres (28.3 hectares) on the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Other partners on the dredging projects include Wicomico County and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
