General MacArthur, a new cutter suction dredger (CSDs) built by C&C Marine and Repair of Louisiana, entered service with Texas-based marine services contractor Callan Marine on Saturday, May 16.

The 88-metre vessel is one of the largest CSDs to be built in the United States. It has a draught of 2.7 metres, a maximum dredging depth of 27 metres, and three Cat-MAK diesel engines with a combined output of 17,896 kW.

Shortly afterward, General MacArthur was deployed on its first project, the second phase of deepening and widening of the ship channel at the Port of Corpus Christi.
