US-based marine environmental consulting firm CSA Ocean Sciences has added a new vessel to its research fleet.
The 15-metre Dolphin is a multi-purpose vessel specially configured to support marine geophysical survey. The layout includes a large aft working deck, a raised wheelhouse with 360-degree viewing windows, and a spacious multi-use salon area along with a small galley, a shower, and equipment racks below decks.
The vessel is powered by twin Detroit Diesel 8-71 motors and a 20kW generator. On deck are two high-speed integrated research winches, each with six-pass slip rings to support custom instrument interfacing.
Dolphin also has equipment for towing smaller, sensor-equipped unmanned vehicles.
