Emergency services vessels and their equipment remain one of the most interesting and rapidly developing sectors of the wider workboat market. I always look forward to our ESV features. They invariably present numerous new, imaginative and interesting developments.
This week is no different. The variety in terms of size, style, construction materials and geographic location of the vessels we review is typically wide and the new approaches to continuing emergency problems are as imaginative as always. Some of the boats reviewed really push the boundaries.
The Metal Shark fireboat, for example, is quite new and different in approach. The thinking that went into the vessel is "out-of-the-box and impressively innovative. The 95-metre Russian Arctic "support ship" and the simple little Silver Ships aluminium landing craft-style response boat are additional cases in point.
Of course, as the week unfolds, there will be much more. What we present this week on Baird Maritime will, as always, have much wider application across all workboat sectors.
