Focus on Research and Training

New research and survey vessels are being introduced globally to serve specific functions in designated marine environments. This week, we review newbuilds including hydrographic mapping boats for use in Norway and the Netherlands and a scientific vessels for a Russian operator.

Another interesting inclusion in our lineup of featured vessels is a former subsea construction support ship that has been rebuilt for ocean exploration. The refurbished vessel will be operated in the waters of the Cook Islands where it will perform a range of duties in support of a local seabed mining company. Another refit vessel to be reviewed is a former tug that has now been converted into a deep-sea research ship for the Russian government.

The marine research and training sector continues to showcase innovation, as readers of Baird Maritime will be fortunate to see over the coming days.
