By Captain Duke Snider FNI
The author, a Canadian master mariner, is a very experienced ice navigator. This new and improved edition of his already excellent text offers the reader the benefit of that experience. For the ever-increasing number of mariners voyaging in arctic waters, this book will be of enormous value.
Very profusely and clearly illustrated in the usual Nautical Institute manner, it offers a mass of proven and very helpful hints as to how to navigate safely in ice. It delves into the basics, even appropriate clothing is discussed. Vital emergency and rescue response procedures are explained as is IMO's all important Polar Code. A range of very useful and practical check lists is included.
This is a "must read" for anyone planning a voyage in any kind of vessel into the polar or even just ice regions.
