New projects in the pipeline include cable and turbine installation works in the German and Danish sectors North Sea, a site survey in support of Australia's first offshore wind farm, and 4D geophysical monitoring off Cote d'Ivoire.

TenneT awards frame agreement for cable installation in support of German offshore wind market

Nexans has been awarded a frame agreement by TenneT for turnkey high voltage direct current projects for offshore wind farms.

Under this frame, Nexans will be responsible for three grid projects, connecting the future offshore wind farms BalWin 3, LanWin 4, LanWin 2, in the German North Sea to the mainland. Major subcontracted works will be added once the project-specific call-offs are signed.

Nexans will be responsible for the full engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), including civil works, of over 2,160 kilometres of subsea and land cables.

Fugro wins site investigation contract for Australia's first offshore wind farm

Fugro has been awarded a contract to perform an offshore geotechnical site investigation for Australia's offshore wind project Star of the South (SOTS), located in the Bass Strait off the coast of Gippsland southeast of Australia.

Partly funded by the Victorian Government through the Energy Innovation Fund, Star of the South is currently in the feasibility phase and has the potential to generate up to 2.2 GW of new capacity, supply around 20 per cent of Victoria's energy needs, and power around 1.2 million homes across the state.

Charles Rattray, Star of the South Chief Executive Officer, said that identifying the composition of the seabed will help ensure activities such as turbine design and placement and construction methods will be tailored specifically for the location.

Shearwater to perform 4D geophysical monitoring in Cote d'Ivoire

Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a contract to execute a 4D geophysical monitoring survey in Cote d'Ivoire on behalf of an undisclosed client.

The project will be conducted over a period of approximately two months beginning in May 2023.

The work is in direct continuation of ongoing surveys in the region.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier to install 72 wind turbines for RWE in Danish North Sea

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has secured a firm and unconditional contract with German renewables company RWE for the installation of 72 offshore wind turbine generators at the Thor wind farm in the Danish North Sea.

Thor will be Denmark's largest offshore wind farm to date, with a total capacity of one GW upon completion. It is scheduled to reach full operation by 2027.

Installation works are scheduled to commence in 2026 and will be carried out of the Port of Esbjerg.
