Malaysian offshore vessel operator Centus Marine has placed an order for a new crewboat designed by Southerly Designs of Australia.

The vessel will have an aluminium hull, a length of 40 metres, seating for up to 70 passengers, and three Caterpillar C32 engines. There will also be seven accommodation cabins housing a total of 16 berths, a large galley and mess area, and a walk-in chiller and freezer.

The aft deck will have a clear area of 120 square metres and will be capable of accommodating up to two tonnes of cargo per square metre.

The crewboat will also have secondary firefighting capability thanks to the installation of a remotely-operated water monitor with a rated output of 1,200 cubic metres per hour.

Construction is ongoing at the facilities of Singapore shipbuilder Strategic Marine.
