Finnish shipbuilder Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) and Australian ferry operator TT-Line Company have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the construction of two fast car and passenger ferries.

The 1,800-passenger ferries will operate under TT-Line's Spirit of Tasmania brand. They will replace the 1998-built Spirit of Tasmania I and Spirit of Tasmania II on the Melbourne-Devonport route.

Construction will commence at the beginning of 2021 with delivery of the two vessels expected in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
