A newbuild catamaran ferry has departed Hobart, Australia, and is currently en route to its new owners in Spain's Canary Islands.
Built by Incat Tasmania for Naviera Armas, Volcan de Taida is a near identical sister of Volcan de Tagoro, which was delivered in 2019.
Volcan de Taida has a length of 111 metres, capacity for 1,200 passengers and crew, and capacity for 219 cars and 600 lane metres of other freight. In car-only mode, the ferry can accommodate a maximum of 401 vehicles.
Four MAN 20V diesel engines drive waterjets to propel the ferry to speeds of over 42 knots at 600 DWT.
Volcan de Taida will operate out of Las Palmas in the Canarys.
