Aulong Shipbuilding completes sea trials of new 70-metre fast ferry

Aulong Shipbuilding, a joint venture between Austal Australia and China's Jianglong Shipbuilding, completed sea trials of a new high-speed catamaran ferry on Wednesday, June 24.

Named Bei You 26 ("North Tour 26"), the ferry is the largest aluminium alloy high-speed passenger vessel to be built in China with an LOA of 70.6 metres, a beam of 17 metres, and capacity for 1,200 passengers.

A maximum speed of 34 knots was achieved during the trials, which were carried out over a span of two days.

Once completed, Bei You 26 will be delivered to tour operator Beihai Xinyi Cruise.
