Royal New Zealand Navy takes delivery of largest ever vessel

The Royal New Zealand Navy took delivery of the future fleet tanker and supply vessel HMNZS Aotearoa from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) on Wednesday, June 10.

The vessel is the largest ever built for the RNZN with a displacement of 26,000 tonnes and a length of 173 metres.

On Wednesday, following its formal hand-over to the RNZN in HHI's Ulsan shipyard, the future Aotearoa departed for New Zealand for commissioning and integration into regular fleet operations.
