A new rescue boat recently delivered to Marine Rescue New South Wales was formally welcomed into service in a ceremony on Friday, April 9.

Built by Yamba Welding and Engineering, the 7.5-metre-long Tuross 21 will be operated on the NSW Far South Coast, particularly in the area spanning the Moruya River up to 15 nautical miles out to sea.

The newbuild is powered by two Suzuki outboard engines and is equipped with a thermal imaging camera and first aid fit-out including a defibrillator and an oxygen kit. Marine Rescue NSW said the craft also boasts greater manoeuvrability and endurance as well as improved all-weather capability compared to its predecessor.

The vessel was acquired for a cost of AU$400,000 (US$304,556). It is based at Preddys Wharf on the Moruya River.
