Coastguard New Zealand has taken delivery of a new rigid inflatable boat (RIB) from local builder Rayglass Boats.

The 12.5-metre Waitoa Barrier Rescue has an elevated cabin and twin Mercury outboards that deliver speeds of up to 40 knots. The cabin has a Simrad radar and four shock-mitigating seats for the crew.

The RIB will be operated out of the Coastguard NZ station on Great Barrier Island in the Northern Region.
