Western Australia-based port operator Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) has confirmed its plans to commence maintenance dredging at the Port of Geraldton within the current month.

The 2021 Maintenance Dredge Project will involve removing naturally accumulated sediments from within the inner harbour of the port and the southern navigational channel.

The work will be carried out over a span of eight weeks by RN Dredging, the Australian subsidiary of Danish marine contractor Rohde Nielsen. The trailing suction hopper dredger Modi R (pictured) will be deployed for the project.
