Austral Fisheries’ newest vessel departs on delivery voyage

Austral Fisheries' newest vessel has left Norwegian waters is currently sailing on its delivery voyage to its new owners in Fremantle, Western Australia.

The electric hybrid Cape Arkona is equipped for potting, trawling, and autoline fishing and will be capable of performing all three fishing methods on a single trip if necessary. Power is provided by two Caterpillar main engines with outputs of 1,825 kW and 1,250 kW, respectively.

Cape Arkona's hull was completed by Marine Projects of Gdansk, Poland, while final outfitting was carried out by Norway's Båtbygg.

Upon arrival in Fremantle by the end of August, the vessel will be used to fish for icefish and Patagonian toothfish.
