Subsea services company Ashtead Technology has appointed a chief financial officer (CFO) and four managers for newly created roles across its international team.
Ingrid Stewart assumed the new CFO position this week, bringing 23 years of corporate finance experience to the Aberdeenshire-headquartered business. She spent eight years with EnerMech Group as corporate development director where she managed the completion and integration of multiple acquisitions for the firm, as well as developing and executing long-term strategies. Prior to this, she was a member of the senior UK management team at Simmons and Company International, becoming the investment bank's first ever female corporate finance director in 2009.
The new Aberdeenshire-based managerial hires across Ashtead Technology include Stephen Booth as decommissioning BD manager and asset integrity project manager Michael Gibson. In addition, Mark Vela has joined as US operations manager in Houston, and Dan Davies has taken up his new role as NDT market manager within the company's inspection solutions team in Bedfordshire, England.
Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) recently welcomed Jasmine Gonzalez as Senior Project Coordinator. Jasmine will support multiple departments with project execution and development of enhanced business reporting and procedures. She reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is positioned in Seattle, Washington.
Jasmine brings a broad background of marine industry knowledge and experience gained through previous employment at a Pacific Northwest tug and barge operator, a shipyard and a salvage company. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California Maritime Academy and is an active member and former board member of the Seattle Propeller Club.
Rauma Marine Constructions has appointed Ville Laaksonen as Chief Operating Officer. Mr Laaksonen succeeds Timo Suistio, who will focus on his role as RMC's Executive Vice President.
Mr Laaksonen will also join RMC's Management Team, where he will be responsible for production. He worked previously at Meyer Turku, where he acted as Head of Outfitting and was also a member of the shipyard's Management Team.
ROV specialist Aleron has promoted Gary McConnell to Managing Director from his earlier position of Commercial Manager. Gary has been with the Aberdeen-based company since 2015.
Former Managing Director Mike Bisset has returned to the role of Technical Director, focused on growing demand for Aleron's products, services and special projects.
The Coast Guard Foundation welcomed Thomas A. Allegretti to the position of Chairman of the Board, effective January 7, 2021.
Mr. Allegretti first joined the Coast Guard Foundation board in 2006 and has served on the Executive Committee and the Audit Committee. In 2020, he led the Foundation's COVID Management plan.
Most recently, Allegretti served as the Senior Executive Officer of the American Waterways Operators (AWO), the national trade association for the domestic tug, towboat and barge industry. Allegretti's tenure with AWO stretches back 35 years in total, including service as President and CEO of the organisation for 26 years. He has held positions on several industry and trade boards, including the American Maritime Partnership and the National Waterways Foundation.
Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, has been appointed to a two-year term as Global Chairman of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
Mr. Vago served as CEO of MSC Cruises from 2003 to 2013. He previously served as Chairman of CLIA Europe in 2014.
As of April 1, 2021, Ronald Suhlmann will become Chief Financial Officer of Damen Shipyards Group. He succeeds Tom Touber, who held this position ad interim for two years.
Ronald started his career at Ballast Nedam and moved to Damen in 2015, where the Register Controller was both Financial Director of the Naval and Yachting divisions. With his appointment as CFO, Suhlmann becomes a member of the Executive Board of Damen.
In addition, Damen has created the new role of Chief Counsel within the Executive Board to cover risk, compliance, and legal matters. As of April 1, this will be filled by Mario Herrebout, current general counsel and company secretary.
Mario has been in service with Damen Naval since 2009 and switched to Damen Group at the end of 2019.
Karsten Sævik is the new managing director of New Havyard Ship Technology (NHST) in Leirvik , Norway.
Mr Sævik has extensive experience in the construction and operation of ships, including as VP Project and Newbuilding in Odfjell, CEO of Remøy Shipping and as CEO of Ulstein Verft.
Jared Newcombe was hired as Chief Strategy Officer of Heddle Shipyards effective January 4, 2021.
Jared is an accomplished shipyard executive with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He began his career at Irving Shipbuilding and held various management positions there. In 2013 Jared joined Chantier Davie as Chief Operating Officer and then served as Chief Executive Officer from 2016 to 2019.
Huntington Ingalls Industries has promoted Keith Munn to vice president, business management, and chief financial officer for Ingalls Shipbuilding. In his new role, he will be responsible for all financial management, contract management and business management functions at Ingalls.
Munn replaces Tom Stiehle, who has been promoted to HII executive vice president and CFO. Munn assumed this new role on February 15, 2021.
Munn joined Ingalls in 1998 as an accountant. He has held various leadership roles in Business Management over the past 23 years including management roles in Finance and Contracts. Munn served as a director, Business Management for 12 years as a business manager responsible for various programs. He has held key roles in multiple contract negotiations including Ingalls' guided missile destroyer (DDG), amphibious transport dock (LPD), national security cutter (NSC), and life-cycle engineering and support services (LCE&S) programs.
Stephanie L. O'Sullivan has meanwhile been elected to HII's Board of Directors. O'Sullivan has been a business consultant since 2017. Prior to that, she served as principal deputy director of the Office of National Intelligence (PPDNI), having been appointed in 2011. As PDDNI she worked to assist the director of national intelligence in the management of the day-to-day operations of the intelligence community.
Prior to serving as PDDNI, she served as the associate deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Prior to this appointment, she held several management positions in the agency's Directorate of Science and Technology, working to develop and deploy innovative technology in support of intelligence collection and analysis.
O'Sullivan currently serves on the boards of directors of The Aerospace Corporation, Battelle Memorial Institute, HRL Laboratories (formerly Hughes Research Laboratories) and the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation. She has served on advisory boards at Google, Adobe and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and continues to serve on advisory boards at Noblis, Peraton and Booz Allen Hamilton. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University's Center for Security and Emerging Technology and continues to support study activities for the Department of Defense and the CIA.
Irving Shipbuilding has appointed Kevin Mooney as its new President, replacing Kevin McCoy who will retire in April.
Mooney joined Irving Shipbuilding this past August as Chief Operating Officer. He previously worked at the General Dynamics NASSCO Shipyard in San Diego, California where he held senior positions in Operations, Programs and Supply Chain Management. Prior to working for NASSCO, he served in the US Navy, finishing his navy career as the commanding officer of a nuclear submarine.
Niels Alexander Lange has taken over as Managing Director of Hamburg-based marine propulsion specialist Jastram, replacing Gerhard Erb who has since retired.
Lange holds a degree in Naval Architecture/Ship Science and has many years of experience in the maritime supply industry, with a focus on marine propulsion.
Michael Koefoed will take on the role of Chief Financial Officer of Maersk Supply Service effective March 15, 2021.
Koefoed, currently Head of Funding and Markets in A.P. Møller-Maersk, will replace Karl Thorngren. Since 2005, Koefoed has been with Maersk in various finance and treasury roles. From 2016 to 2018, he worked in Maersk Supply Service; latest as Head of Finance responsible for the global finance function. As an educational background, he holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Copenhagen.
Marine Jet Power (MJP) has appointed Björn Ingemanson, former President and CEO of Volvo Penta, and Glenn Edvardsen, CEO of VesselMan, to its board of directors.
Prior to his tenure at Volvo Penta, Björn held various leadership positions within the Volvo Group and previously spent three years working in Tokyo, Japan.
Glenn, a master mariner, is the CEO and co-founder of VesselMan, a cloud-based management system providing turnkey solutions to the maritime industry. Prior to VesselMan, Glenn held the position of Vice President and head of shipping at StormGeo. In recent years Glenn has been working exclusively with digital strategy, focused on transformation technology and management in the shipping and offshore segments.
TechnipFMC has named Alf Melin as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective January 25, 2021.
Mr. Melin has been with the Company since 1995 and has held multiple leadership positions in finance, treasury and operations. He currently serves as Senior Vice President, Finance Operations, where he is responsible for the company's global finance activities across all segments. Additionally, he has direct oversight of finance operations for the subsea segment. Prior to this, he held various operational roles, including Senior Vice President, Surface Americas, and General Manager, Fluid Control.
Mr. Melin's service with the company includes eight years in various global locations.
Chris Deegan, President and Chief Executive of naval architects Gibbs and Cox, has been elected to the National Board of Directors of the American Shipbuilding Suppliers Association (ASSA).
Deegan joined Gibbs and Cox as the Engineering Group Vice President in 2013. After three years, he was promoted into the position of President and Chief Executive in June of 2016. Since this time, he has expanded the capabilities of Gibbs and Cox into cybersecurity and naval autonomy as well as the company's presence both domestically and internationally with eight current corporate offices.
In his naval acquisition career, Deegan was a member of the Department of the Navy's Senior Executive Service (SES) for nearly ten years, serving in executive positions in the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) and the Assistant Secretary of the Navy Financial Management Budget office. Before his SES tours, he spent much of his career in submarine program management. In 1997, he was selected as a Brookings Fellow and served on Congressman John Murtha's (House Appropriations Committee – Defense ranking member) personal staff.
Jean Gauthier has taken over Naval Group's Naval 2025 transformation program, which seeks to ensure improved quality control in the company's product and service offerings. Gauthier is now responsible for ensuring the overall management of this structuring program, the consistency of the roadmaps, and the sharing and capitalisation of the results obtained.
Gauthier joined Naval Group in 1996 as a diving safety systems engineer. He held several positions as a submarine architect and as a team member on many submarine development projects. He was also in charge of the in-service support of the French Navy's nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSN) in Toulon.
In 2017, Gauthier was named director of R&D and innovation.
Meanwhile, Naval Group has appointed Géraldine Le Maire as General Secretary and member of its Executive Committee. Her supervision encompasses legal and contract management, ethics, compliance and governance, audit and risks, export control and customs, security, the Data Protection Office, as well as the company's secretary activities.
Prior to joining Naval Group, Le Maire was General Secretary and Group General Counsel for Altran Technologies since 2017. She previously held various international legal and compliance positions for Goldman Sachs, Thomson, GE Capital Real Estate, and Publicis Groupe. She started her career in private practice after being admitted to the Paris Bar in 1994. She holds an LLM in International Business Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science as well as a DJCE and a DESS in Business Law.
With effect from April 1, 2021, Dirk Wagner will take over as Managing Director at Schottel Middle East (SME) assuming the responsibilities of Andrew Bull, who will be leaving the company to pursue other interests outside of Schottel. Dirk has extensive experience and expertise in the area of ship propulsion. He joined SME when it was founded in 2011.
After earning a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Dirk, who has an intercultural background, worked in various positions in the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, English speaking Africa (MIA) region for more than 10 years.
Sea Machines Robotics has promoted Phil Bourque to the role of business development and sales director, US Government. In his new position, Bourque will primarily focus on advancing the company's government contracts and related special projects.
With more than 15 years' experience working in the marine industry, Bourque joined the company in 2017 as director of business development. Prior to driving Sea Machines' business, he built much of the global sales and support network for Seakeeper, a manufacturer of marine gyrostabilisers. His work with USVs at Seakeeper inspired him to pursue the field of autonomy.
Bourque has a BASc degree in international business and an MBA from the University of Redlands, in Redlands, California.
Tallink Grupp has appointed Ats Joorits as the new Managing Director for Tallink Silja, the shipping company's Swedish subsidiary, as the company's current Managing Director Marcus Risberg leaves the company to take up a new position elsewhere. Mr Joorits will take up the position from March 15, 2021, when Mr Risberg leaves the company to take up his new role.
Ats Joorits has worked in Tallink Grupp and Tallink Silja since 2006 and currently holds the position of Group Head of Quality Management, based in Sweden. Prior to that he has held the positions of Deputy CEO and Head of Sales and Marketing, and Product Manager in Tallink Silja. Before joining Tallink, Mr Joorits worked at Holland America Line between 2005 and 2006 and held various media and broadcasting roles between 1991 and 2004 in Sweden and the USA.
Mr Joorits holds a Master's degree in Tourism Administration from the George Washington University, USA.
Vår Energi has appointed Torger Rød as the company's new CEO. He will replace Kristin F. Kragseth, who has accepted the position as CEO of Petoro, the management company for the Norwegian state-owned oil and gas interests.
Mr Rød has spent the last 22 years working with Equinor both in Norway and internationally, most recently as the Head of Safety and Security and before this as the SVP Project Development.
SHIP WORLD:
The Isle of Man Ship Registry (IOMSR) has appointed its first permanent representative in China. Naval architect and newbuilding project manager Jonathan Kingdon has taken up the post from his base in Shanghai, where he also heads up the Asia operation of IDWAL, a marine inspection and project management firm.
Jonathan will join IOMSR's network of overseas representatives in Greece, Japan and Singapore.
Charles Taylor, the provider of services and technology solutions to the global insurance market, announced that Kuhrt Wieneke, President of Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services – US, has been appointed as Managing Director of Charles Taylor Adjusting's US Marine division, effective January 1, 2021.
Mr. Wieneke joined Charles Taylor in April 2020 with the creation of Charles Taylor Marine Technical Services (CT MTS). CT MTS brought together the marine surveying and technical marine consultancy businesses of Bowditch Marine, Pilot Marine and the marine surveyors of Charles Taylor Adjusting US, as one cohesive marine surveying and consultancy service provider. Since that time, he has managed the CT MTS team of 19 experienced professionals, operating from Charles Taylor US locations in Seattle, New York, Boston, Savannah, San Francisco, Houston and Honolulu.
With the announcement of his expanded leadership role, Mr. Wieneke will assume the position as Managing Director, Marine for Charles Taylor Adjusting (CTA), in addition to continuing as CT MTS President. He will be responsible for overseeing and managing CT MTS's team of marine surveyors and technical consulting specialists, as well as CTA's experienced marine adjusters.
Global marine transport and logistics provider Peters and May has appointed a new regional manager to oversee operations in the area. Luke Webster, who has been responsible for establishing and developing the firm's German office in Hamburg since 2014, as well as supervising parts of Asia during 2020, will now head up all Peters & May activity in the region.
Webster has worked for Peters and May since 2006. He will head up the strong regional team already in place.
Shipping and international trade law firm Campbell Johnston Clark (CJC) has announced the appointment of two new Directors, with Singapore-based Senior Associate Will Pyle and Newcastle-based Senior Associate Alex Hudson promoted with effect from March 1, 2021.
Will Pyle has a broad practice in shipping and international trade and advises a range of clients including P&I Clubs, shipowners, ship managers, charterers, insurers and banks with a particular focus on the Japanese market. He handles contractual disputes, including those arising out of charterparties, bills of lading and sale contracts, and also advises in relation to marine casualties such as collisions, groundings and fires at sea.
Recently, Will has advised on disputes arising from delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also part of the CJC team in Singapore advising on a case involving the substantial loss of containers at sea, and a container ship fire. He has extensive experience of running international arbitrations in both Singapore and London and advising on claims in the English courts.
Alex Hudson specialises in P&I and FD&D matters covering a wide range of charterparty, bill of lading and general contract of affreightment disputes. His clients include shipowners, P&I clubs and other maritime players primarily operating in the bulk, container, tanker and Ro-Ro markets.
Alex regularly assists clients with complex cross-jurisdictional issues. His recent experience includes advising on cargo claims, pool distribution and hire disputes, general average and bunker supply disputes.
Demetris Chrysostomou has been appointed Managing Director of the Asia Region for Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM), working out of the company's Singapore office.
Mr Chrysostomou will oversee, and be responsible for, all existing and future operations in the Asian region, including China, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. He will also retain overall responsibility for Group Marketing and Business Development and will have overall responsibility for the Singapore office supported, and reported to, by existing top management.
Marcura Group, a Dubai-based group of companies focused on providing business solutions to the global maritime industry, has appointed Hans-Christian Mordhorst as the Group's Chief Commercial Officer and Non-Executive Chairman of its flagship company, DA-Desk FZ-LLC, effective February 15, 2021.
Mr Mordhorst has for the past seven years been the Managing Director of DA-Desk and for the past 20 years held senior positions in the global shipping industry.
Succeeding Mr Mordhorst as Managing Director will be Dionysis Tzelepis who is promoted from a role as Director of Financial Services in DA-Desk. Prior to DA-Desk, Mr Tzelepis was heading up Treasury and Corporate Finance at a major ship owner; he has 20 years' experience in shipping and finance.
Pacific International Lines (PIL) has appointed Goh Chung Hun as General Manager, Fleet Division, effective from February 1, 2021. Mr. Goh succeeds Captain R.S. Minhas from February 15, 2021.
Mr. Goh will be overseeing the management of PIL's fleet, including technical, marine operations, safety and crewing at PIL.
Mr. Goh brings with him almost 30 years of fleet management, technical, marine operations and seafaring experience. Prior to joining PIL, he was Director (Shipping) / Director (Marine) at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), where he managed the Singapore registry of ships, flag state control, port state control, marine casualty investigations, maritime regulations, as well as the training and certification of seafarers. He was the head of Singapore's delegation to the IMO for the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) and chaired the IMO working group that finalised the upcoming ban on the use of heavy fuel oil in the Arctic.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was also responsible for setting up a specialised team to manage and facilitate safe crew change at the Port of Singapore.
APM Terminals Callao, operator of the North Multipurpose Terminal of the Port of Callao (Peru), has appointed Lars Vang Christensen as its new Managing Director, replacing Javier Lancha de Micheo.
Lars has a broad and solid international experience in the logistics business of more than 25 years, having started his career in A.P. Moller-Maersk. Before assuming this role, he served as CEO of the Suez Canal Container Terminal in Egypt. He began his career at Maersk as a Deck Cadet and achieved several key roles, such as Captain, Manager, Port Manager and General Manager.
To support the expansion of the company's business in Japan, Sakura Kuma joined APM Terminals Japan as Managing Director effective February 1, 2021.
Prior to joining APM Terminals, Sakura held several leadership positions within marketing and sales, new business development and corporate management in NYK, as well as secondments to NYK Bulk and Projects Carrier, Yusen Terminal, and Yokohama-Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP).
The Board of Avance Gas Holding has appointed Kristian Sørensen as the new Chief Executive Officer of Avance Gas. Sørensen currently holds the position as CEO of Oslo-based shipbroker Fearnleys and will join Avance Gas on April 1, 2021.
James O'Shaughnessy has meanwhile been elected as a new member in the Avance Gas board of directors to fill vacancies on the board. He has been an Executive Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller of Axis Capital Holdings since March 26, 2012. Prior to that Mr. O'Shaughnessy has amongst others served as Chief Financial Officer in the Bermuda operations of Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings and as Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President of Scottish Re Group, and Chief Financial Officer of XL Re at XL Group.
Mr. O'Shaughnessy is both a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland and an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the UK.
Maritime UK has confirmed the appointment of Sarah Kenny as its new Chair, and of Robin Mortimer as its new Vice Chair.
Kenny, who is CEO of BMT Group, was previously Vice Chair and replaces Harry Theochari, Global Head of Transport at Norton Rose Fulbright. Kenny's successor as Vice Chair Robin Mortimer is CEO of the Port of London Authority.
Kenny and Mortimer started their terms as Chair and Vice Chair on January 1, 2021 and will be working with members to help steer the sector through the next four years having left the European Union, as it seeks to build back better from COVID-19, attract new investment and accelerates its work to meet its net zero commitments with the key COP26 summit being held in the UK in 2021.
The Board of Directors of Diana Shipping has approved a series of senior management appointments intended to provide for an orderly succession and to ensure the continued sound strategic management of the company. The management appointments were made unanimously and are effective as of March 1, 2021.
Semiramis Paliou has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company. Accordingly, she will no longer serve in her previous positions as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Ioannis Zafirakis has been appointed Chief Financial Officer on a permanent basis. He had served in that role on an interim basis since February 2020. Mr. Zafirakis also will remain the Chief Strategy Officer, Treasurer and Secretary of the Company.
Eleftherios Papatrifon has joined the company and has been appointed to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Hamburg Süd Chief Commercial Officer Poul Hestbaek will take over as Chief Executive Officer from Dr Arnt Vespermann, who after more than 20 years with Hamburg Süd has decided to leave the company. The change will take place by end of the first quarter of 2021.
Hestbaek has been with the company since 2004. He has previously been responsible for the liner shipping company's commercial business on several continents, including Latin America, Europe and Asia/Pacific.
The Hong Kong Maritime Museum has appointed internationally-renowned maritime history scholar Dr Joost Schokkenbroek as its new Director.
A citizen of the Netherlands, Dr Schokkenbroek is currently Executive Director at the Vancouver Maritime Museum in Canada and is also an emeritus Professor of Maritime History and Heritage at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
He holds MA and PhD degrees in maritime history from Leiden University in the Netherlands and is the former Chief Curator of Het Scheepvaartmuseum (The Dutch National Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam (1991-2017). He has been visiting professor at (among others) Cornell University, Tufts University, Middlebury College, Higher School of Economics Saint Petersburg, Tokyo University and brings close to 35 years of experience in the field of museum leadership and maritime heritage.
Dr Schokkenbroek has published books and papers and lectured widely on maritime material culture, and the extensive historical ties based on maritime trade between the West and the East and particularly with China, Japan and Indonesia. The new Director will formally take the helm at the HKMM on March 1. He succeeds Mr Richard Wesley who is returning to his native Australia, after ten years in the post.
Lloyd's Register had appointed Mark Darley as Business Director, Marine and Offshore, and Andy McKeran as Business Director, Maritime Performance Services.
Mark Darley, a Naval Architect, has been with LR for more than 20 years in various operational, business and leadership roles across Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, including Chief Operating Officer for the Marine and Offshore business before taking on this role. As Business Director for Marine and Offshore, he will manage and expand LR's classification, certification and verification services.
Andy McKeran joined LR as Commercial Director for the Marine and Offshore business two years ago, having spent more than two decades working in the marine, offshore and naval sectors for Cegelec, Alstom, Converteam and General Electric. Andy will expand LR's performance management, fleet management, and fleet optimisation, combining LR's deep domain technical expertise and digital products and services, a portfolio that includes Hanseaticsoft, SeaSafe and i4 Insight.
Pacific Basin Shipping has appointed Martin Fruergaard as an Executive Director with effect from July 2, 2021. Mr Fruergaard will take over the full responsibilities as the Chief Executive Officer of the company from July 31.
Mr. Fruergaard started his long career in shipping at A.P. Moller-Maersk Group in 1989, first as a trainee at Maersk Tankers and later becoming part of the gas carrier operation in Houston, USA and Copenhagen, Denmark from 1991 to 1995. He then spent eight years with Maersk Bulk Carriers and became its Senior Director in 2003 when he moved back to Maersk Tanker as its Senior Vice President. In 2009, Mr. Fruergaard became the chief commercial officer of Maersk Drilling where he was part of the senior management team with responsibilities in customers, sales and marketing, investments and divestments, corporate social responsibility and communication.
Mr. Fruergaard joined Ultragas in 2015 assuming the role of chief executive officer up to the present time. He led the strategy development and execution where he implemented commercial excellence processes, delivered competitive technical management services and expanded their fleet of ships. Mr. Fruergaard is currently a board member of Danish Shipping and The Danish Maritime Fund.
P&O Maritime Logistics has appointed Christian Arndt to the newly-created role of Vice President Logistics.
Mr Arndt joins the business following over 20 years in the energy industry, with a diversified background that includes supply chain and logistics management with upstream producing operators such as ExxonMobil and Tullow Oil.
Port of Brisbane (PBPL) has welcomed new Chairman, Guy Cowan, to the role, beginning February 17. He assumed the position following the retirement of long serving Port of Brisbane Chair Jerry Maycock.
Mr Cowan currently Chairs Queensland Sugar, Health and Plant Protein Group and Winson Group, and is a Non-Executive Director of Santos. He has a diverse corporate background, including roles as Chief Financial Officer for Shell Oil (USA) and Fonterra Cooperative Group.
Port of Oakland appointed Julie Lam to the position of Chief Financial Officer on February 8, 2021, after having served as acting CFO for 10 months.
Ms. Lam will be responsible for financial management, budgeting and accounting in her new role. She'll also oversee human resources, risk management, purchasing and enterprise resource planning.
Ms. Lam joined the port in December 2012, spending seven years as its Controller. She previously served as an Accounting and Treasury Manager for M. Arthur Gensler Jr. and Associates. Ms. Lam received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in accounting and a minor in economics, from the University of San Francisco.
Port of Tacoma president Dick Marzano and Port of Seattle Commission president Fred Felleman have been selected as the new Co-Chairs of the Northwest Seaport Alliance, a marine cargo operating partnership between the Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma.
Commissioner Marzano recently retired after 52 years as Tacoma longshore worker, serving as president of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 23 for six years. First elected to the commission in November 1995, he has served the community in many roles, including being a member of Puget Sound Regional Council's Executive Board and past president of the Washington Public Ports Association Board of Trustees.
Commissioner Felleman has been active in the advancement of marine conservation and maritime safety in the Pacific Northwest for over three decades. Prior to being elected to the Seattle Port Commission in 2015, Fred worked closely with the port to further its standing as a competitive green gateway as it became a cruise ship homeport in 2000. He serves on the Board of Maritime Blue and the Puget Sound Regional Council's Executive Board. Fred is the Port of Seattle Commission's tribal liaison and was the founding Chair of the Port's Energy and Sustainability Committee.
Ship management company V.Group has appointed Bjoern Sprotte to the post of chief executive officer, Ship Management.
Based in Hamburg and reporting directly to V.Group CEO René Kofod-Olsen, Sprotte replaces Franck Kayser, who will be assuming leadership of the group's activities in Denmark.
Sprotte joins V.Group from OSM Maritime Group, where he spent four years in a number of senior roles, including chief operating officer, president and, most recently, chief executive officer. His career started at Rickmers Group, where he rose from nautical officer to CEO of maritime services over a period of fifteen years, from which he moved to the position of vice president at Carnival Group, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of ship management strategy.

Brian Perkins has joined the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) as its new chief operating officer.
Perkins comes to GAA with more than 40 years of seafood experience in the certification space as well as in the events and media space. For the past six years, he has acted as Regional Director Americas for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the world's leading wild fisheries certification program.
In addition to developing and implementing strategies to integrate and transition to the Global Seafood Alliance, Perkins will be responsible for managing Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), the world's leading third-party aquaculture certification program, including oversight of the BAP market development team, program integrity team and certification team.
The board of directors of international fisheries non-profit Ocean Outcomes has appointed Rich Lincoln to be its new President and CEO.
Mr Lincoln is Ocean Outcomes' founding Executive Director. He has an extensive, diverse background in sustainable fisheries.
SAIC, formerly the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre, has appointed a trio of international aquaculture experts to its board, bringing a combined 80 years of experience to the leadership team. These include: Alan Sutherland, marine director at the Scottish Salmon Company; Alan Tinch, technical director of Benchmark Genetics; and Pieter van West, director of the International Centre for Aquaculture Research and Development at the University of Aberdeen.
With almost four decades working in the global fish farming sector, Alan Sutherland has a strong track record in business development and senior leadership. He returns to SAIC, having been a founding director when the centre launched in 2014. Alan previously led the Scottish, USA and Canadian divisions of Pan Fish and Marine Harvest – now Mowi – and has held a number of external board and committee positions, including the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation, Scottish Aquaculture Research Forum, African Century Foods and VeroBlue.
Alan Tinch is a specialist in advanced livestock breeding and genetics and is the current technical lead for Benchmark Genetics for its global breeding programmes for aquatic species. He has over thirty years' experience managing commercial research and development projects across aquatic and terrestrial species – currently working on Atlantic salmon, shrimp and tilapia – with a strong focus on innovation and development in Scottish aquaculture.
In addition to joining the SAIC board, Pieter van West has been appointed to the innovation centre's Independent Scientific Panel as deputy chair. Pieter has an extensive academic background as part of the International Centre of Aquaculture Research and Development and the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen. He is also an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
