From Baird Maritime:

Allan Villiers was a global maritime adventurer and photo-journalist who made his name in the 1920s and 1930s.

This, one of his best known works, was first published in 1940. Rapidly recognised as a classic, it was revised and reprinted in 1969 and again in 2006.

Villiers was the first Westerner to experience and report on the age – old Arab trading voyages on the monsoon. He also extensively photographed aspects of the voyage. Fifty of those brilliant pictures are included on this high quality new edition of the book.

While not exactly describing the end of the Arabian dhow trade, Villier's experience were certainly grounded in the final flowering of it. Apart from being a wonderful maritime yarn, Sons of Sindbad is a very important historical record of all aspects of the dhow trade.

Those who missed the increasingly rare previous editions of this masterpiece should ensure that they do not fail to grasp this latest opportunity.
