The Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket) recently took delivery of a new aluminium workboat. Runde is the the third in a series of workboats that also includes Stabben and Skrova, which were handed over to Kystverket in December last year.
The boat will be used for maintenance of lighthouses and maritime markers in central Norway. It also has a spacious deck and adequate storage space. It is also suitable for towing and lifting operations.
The boat is fitted with IMO Tier III engines that can be configured to run on methanol fuel. The vessel was designed to be capable of high transit speeds of up to 35 knots while retaining a significant cargo capacity and a large deck crane. A hydraulically operated bow ramp door facilitates loading and unloading of light cargo and wheeled vehicles.
The compact wheelhouse has space for a galley while a toilet is located below the main deck. The wheelhouse also has two suspension seats for the three crewmembers.
