New marking vessel for Danube River maintenance

Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River's new vessel, Osam.

MTG Dolphin has built and delivered a new marking vessel for the Danube River to the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River. A ceremony was held in Rousse.

The specialised vessel is part of a FAIRway Danube project, financed under the Connecting Europe facility.

The ship will be named Osam, following a tradition at the agency to name their ships after the river's tributaries.

The vessel will perform fairway designation to ensure seamless navigation by preventing seams from being jammed. Osam has an overall length of 34 metres with a beam of 9.5 metres and a draught of 1.25 metres. The vessel is able to sail with a speed of 12 knots.

MTG Dolphin has previously delivered two other ships to the agency: a cutter for hydrographic measurement in January 2018, and a hydrographic research catamaran in February 2017.
