UK-based RIB manufacturer Marine Specialised Technology (MST) will unveil a new 10.5-metre wheelhouse RIB along with a 620 Workboat RIB for the Pakistani Navy and a high specification five-metre craft on May 26 and 27 in Copenhagen, Denmark, at Seawork 2009.
The 10.5-metre Wheelhouse RIB is the third of a five-boat order placed by a Scandinavian client. Powered by twin diesel Hamilton waterjets, this vessel is capable of 45 knots. The design incorporates a single point lift system for launching and retrieving. In addition, the craft has a 48-hour autonomy capability from its mother ship.
This 6.2-metre craft, on the other hand, is the fourth in a series of eight which have been ordered by the Pakistani Navy. To be operated from F22P-class frigates currently under construction, MST's newbuilds will be launched from twin full davit systems. Powered by Volvo Penta D3 rated 140kW, driving VP SX Sterndrives, the craft is capable of speeds of up to 37 knots.
Meanwhile, the high specification five-metre craft features top speeds of 28 knots with ten people on board and 38 knots with two people on board. The all-aluminium construction has a flooding hull design to provide the necessary exceptional stability at rest while MST's special "hybrid" collar system provides the sea keeping benefits of a traditional pneumatic collar combined with the durability and damage resistance of a solid foam collar. The modular design provides easy maintenance and power comes from a Yamaha 74kW four-stroke engine. Ten of such craft have been ordered.
