This book is exactly what the cover says it is. It may sound a bit boring but it offers a really useful addition to World War Two naval history.
By the late 1930s aerial photography had become quite a refined art. The technology was advanced and in wartime, of course, no expense was spared. The contemporary reader benefits from this.
While the pictures of the ships themselves are impressive – as were many of the ships – the action photographs of ships being attacked and sunk are breathtaking.
If you've read about the battles, you'll learn a lot more by studying the pictures. In this case, a picture is very definitely worth a thousand words.
