From Baird Maritime:

This is another of those fascinating World War II histories that are just now coming to light 60 years after the war finished.

In this case it takes the form of a diary kept by a young civilian who joined the US Navy as a rating, and who, at a young age, became a petty officer. He served on armed converted trawlers in the harsh conditions around Greenland.

A sensitive and observant young man, the author sets the scene very well. While modest and self-effacing, it clearly shows yet another interesting and important facet of naval history.
