Russia's Federal Agency for River and Sea Transport (Rosmorrechflot) has awarded Yantar Baltic Shipbuilding Plant a contract for the construction of a new Project MPSV06M salvage vessel.
The vessel will have a length of 86 metres, a beam of 19.1 metres, a displacement of 5,000 tonnes, and diesel-electric propulsion that will deliver a speed of 15 knots. In addition to performing salvage operations, it will also be used for icebreaking, search and rescue (SAR), marine research support, towing of distressed vessels, and support for offshore oil and gas platforms.
The vessel will be operated out of Murmansk by Rosmorrechflot's Marine Rescue Service following its scheduled delivery at the end of 2024.
