Icebreaker Andrey Vilkitsky begins sea trials

United Shipbuilding Corporation's Vyborg Shipyard has begun sea trials of a new icebreaker under Project IBSV01 ordered by Gazprom.

Andrey Vilkitsky is intended for work at the Novoportovskoye field, the largest oil field on the Yamal Peninsula.

It will be used mainly to provide icebreaking assistance for tankers, assistance with mooring and loading operations, support in rescue operations, towing services, firefighting services, and oil spill response.

Andrey Vilkitsky has a length of 121.7 metres, a width of 26 metres, and a draught of eight metres.
