United Shipbuilding Corporation's (USC) Baltic Shipyard has confirmed that the keel for Russia's third Project 22220 nuclear-powered icebreaker will be laid on May 26, 2020.

The vessel will be named Yakutia after the alternate name of Sakha, a republic in Russia's far east.

As with its Project 22220 sisters, Yakutia will be operated by the country's Rosatom atomic energy agency.
