Bogazici delivers tug ‘Waterchief’

A recent addition to Bogazici's deliveries is the new ASD 65+ TBP ASD harbour–escort tug 'Waterchief' (ex-Bogazici-7).

'Waterchief'

The vessel, built for Kristiansund Taubaat Service, Norway, is now on its way to Kristiansund where she operates.

'Waterchief' is 32.5 metres long, 11.7 metres wide and has a depth of 5.6 metres with an average draught of 4.3 metres. The gross tonnage is 463 metric tonnes.

The vessel's basic design is derived from the existing, proven "65+ Bogazici Escort Series" which has been exclusively designed by Cintranaval-Defcar for Bogazici Shipping.

The tug is powered by NRF box-cooled Caterpillar 3516B high displacement engines, each delivering 2,100kW at 1,600rpm to a pair of Schottel Rudderpropellers. The combination gives the tug a bollard pull of over 65 tonnes ahead, over 60 tonnes astern and a free running speed of 13.5 knots.

The all-welded steel vessel is certified by Bureau Veritas with the notation: "I HULL MACH; Escort Tug; Salvage tug; Fire fighting ship-1; -water spraying; Oil recovery ship; Unrestricted navigation; AUT – UMS; CLEANSHIP".
