Concordia Damen in the Netherlands has floated out the first vessel in a new series of 40 inland tankers to be operated by a joint venture between Dutch logistics company VT Group and Cyprus-based Marlow Navigation.

Blue Marjan and its sisters, which will be chartered by Shell, will each measure 110 by 11.45 metres and will be fitted with LNG-fueled engines.

The tankers will be used to carry mineral oils between Antwerp, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and the Rhine network.
