Naming ceremony held for Japan’s first LNG bunkering vessel

Baird Maritime

A naming ceremony was recently held for the first LNG bunkering vessel to be built and operated in Japan.

Built at the Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI), Kaguya was named after a character in a popular Japanese folk tale.

Kaguya will be operated by Central LNG Marine Fuel Japan Corporation and will be based at JERA's Kawagoe Thermal Power Station. It will begin supplying LNG to ships in the Chubu region later this year.
