Nova Scotia’s newest cable ferry to honour former Mi’kmaw Nation chief

Baird Maritime

A new cable ferry that crosses Little Narrows between Inverness County and Victoria County in Nova Scotia, Canada, will be named Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy to honour a leader of the Mi'kmaw Nation.

The new ferry, which has capacity for 15 cars, will begin crossing later this spring. It will replace Caolas Silis, a 32-year-old, 12-car cable ferry, in serving the same route.

The Nova Scotia Government said Grand Chief Ben Sylliboy will be operated on the route over the next 40 years.
