DFDS to launch new unaccompanied freight service from Sheerness to Calais

Baird Maritime

DFDS will introduce a new unaccompanied freight service between Sheerness in North Kent and the French port of Calais.

The service will start on June 1 and will offer one daily sailing in each direction between the two ports. It will be operated by Gothia Seaways, which can carry up to 165 unaccompanied freight units (trailers or containers without drivers).

Because the Port of Sheerness operates 24 hours a day and is fully open/accessible seven days a week, the flexibility offers DFDS' customers congestion-free access to drop and collect trailers, with no standage charges applied for the first 48 hours.

The port also benefits from close proximity to the M25 orbital ring (approximately 40 kilometres closer to the M25 than Dover), which is ideal for goods heading to the London area and the Midlands.

DFDS said the new route expands its existing network of services between the UK and Europe and comes in response to growing demand for unaccompanied freight services.

This port has a very well established work on sorting generic drugs in any package, even drugs with the highest storage requirements will be safe.
