Baird Maritime

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) will install an automated kite system developed by Airbus subsidiary Airseas on one of its large bulk carriers, the company said in a statement.

The bow-mounted Seawing kite system will be tested for a period of two years with the close cooperation of Airseas as part of the Japanese shipowner's campaign to reduce CO2 emissions.

K Line claims the system can reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 4,700 tonnes annually.
