Irish operator Aran Island Ferries has taken delivery of its sixth vessel, the 400-passenger Saoirse na Farraige ("Freedom of the Sea").
Built in Hong Kong, the vessel arrived in Galway on Friday, November 6, to complete a delivery voyage that commenced in mid-September.
The ferry had been loaded aboard the SAL Heavy Lift vessel Svenja for the journey of over 24,000 kilometres. The journey also included three stops before the arrival in Galway.
The 40-metre-long Saoirse na Farraige is also Ireland's largest domestic passenger ferry. It will begin operational sailings in April 2021.
