A cargo vessel carrying over 600 tonnes of clay sank off Sibongkok Island in Western Indonesia's Bangka Belitung Islands province on Wednesday, January 20.

The 67-metre Satya Berjaya suffered a hull breach and ended up partially submerged near the Port of Tanjung Nyato at around 13:00 local time on Wednesday.

All 15 of Satya Berjaya's crew survived. Seven have been evacuated to shore to undergo medical treatment while the remainder stayed aboard the ship to help local authorities in checking for signs of potential oil leaks.

The vessel was sailing between the ports of Tanjung Pandan and Tanjung Priok when the incident occurred.

The cause of the hull breach has not yet been identified.
