ClassNK grants AIP for Japanese concept design of LNG-fueled bulker

Baird Maritime

ClassNK has granted Tsuneishi Shipbuilding an approval in principle (AIP) for its concept design of an LNG-fueled Kamsarmax bulk carrier.

The ship is designed to be powered by a dual-fuel engine that will use LNG as its main fuel. It will also be fitted with an IMO Type C fuel tank.

Tsuneishi expects the vessels in the series to be capable of achieving CO2 emissions reductions of as much as 40 per cent compared to the EEDI reference line.
