The world's first LNG-fuelled bulk carrier has been delivered to Ilshin Logistics at Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyards (HMD).
The 191-metre newbuilding Ilshin Green Iris is powered by a single MAN two-stroke engine.
Verified by Lloyd's Register and the Korean Register to be complying with the International Gas Fuel (IGF) Code, the 50,000DWT Ilshin Green Iris has been chartered by steelmaker POSCO, to transport limestone cargoes in the Korean coastal trade.
Ilshin Green Iris has a Type "C" LNG fuel tank with a capacity of 500 cubic metres. The high-manganese austenitic steel tank is designed for cryogenic LNG and liquefied gas-storage applications.
