The bulk carrier, 'China Star 107' which went missing for four days, has been confirmed to have sunk in the East China Sea, according to the Fujian Maritime Rescue Centre (FMRC).

The vessel was three nautical miles off Fuzhou North island when it disappeared without sending any distress signals. The vessel was travelling from Shanghai to Fuzhou, and was carrying 960 tonnes of steel and wood.

FMRC engaged in a rescue mission, and found 20 pieces of wood and a gas tank. Divers were sent to rescue the five missing crew members, but they remain at large.

The vessel is owned and managed by Fuzhou Yonghua Shipping.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
