Keppel AmFELS laid the keel for the Ohana-class containership George III in a ceremony at the company's shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, on Tuesday, April 30.
On that same day and in the same facility, the first steel was cut for George III's identical sister ship, Janet Marie.
The two 2,525TEU vessels will be operated by transport and logistics company Pasha Hawaii upon their delivery, which is expected in 2020.
The 774- by 114-foot (236- by 35-metre) Ohana-class ships, which will operate fully on LNG, have been named after the late parents of current Pasha Group President and CEO George Pasha IV.
