Evergreen to charter 12 11,000TEU boxships from Shoei Kisen Saisha

Ross McGravie

Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen Line has entered a charter deal with Japan's Shoei Kisen Kaisha for 12 new 11,000TEU containerships.

The Neo-Panamax vessels, which measure 334 metres by 48.4 metres, will be built at Imabari Shipbuilding for Shoei Kisen Kaisha and then leased to Evergreen when delivered in 2021.

The newbuilding design adopts a twin-island concept, separating wheelhouse and accommodation block from the engine room and funnel area.

They will also be equipped with ballast-water treatment systems.
