ARES Shipyard in Antalya has launched the lead vessel in a new series of fast patrol boats slated for the Turkish Coast Guard Command.
The composite-hulled vessel has an LOA of 11.9 metres, a beam of 3.76 metres, and a draught of 0.8 metres. Two inboard diesel engines driving a pair of waterjets will propel the boat to a maximum speed of 35 knots.
Missions will include maritime security patrols, search and rescue (SAR), and anti-illegal migration operations.
The boat is the first of 122 vessels in a series that ARES will build for the coast guard. All will be built according to Turkish Lloyd classification and will be capable of operations in all coastal areas of Turkey spanning the northeast portion of the Black Sea to the southeast portion of the Mediterranean.
