The nuclear-powered, cruise missile submarine Kazan was commissioned into service with the Russian Navy in a ceremony on Friday, May 7.
Built by Sevmash Shipbuilding, the submarine is the first to be completed under Project 885M. It has a length of 130 metres, a hull diameter of 13 metres, a rated crush depth of 658 metres, a maximum submerged speed of 35 knots, and space for 64 crewmembers.
Armament includes torpedoes and Oniks and Kalibr cruise missiles.
