Philippine Navy commissions 41m landing craft

Baird Maritime

The Philippine Navy recently commissioned a landing craft utility (LCU) vessel into service.

Named after a local indigenous tribe, BRP Mamanwa was originally built as a Mulgae-class LCU for the South Korean Navy in the 1980s. The vessel was retired from South Korean service in 2012 and transferred to the Philippines three years later.

The 41-metre Mamanwa is crewed by 10 personnel and can transport up to 150 tonnes of assorted cargo including wheeled and tracked vehicles.
