India to trial first missile-tracking ship

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute

India's first missile-tracking ship, the VC 11184, will be trialled in early October in the Bay of Bengal.

The US$100 million program was kept secret until last week.

The vessel can carry 300 personnel and features a helicopter deck.

Its launch will mark the second phase of New Delhi's ballistic missile defence program and catapult India into an elite international club.
