A fire broke out on a German Navy warship shortly after it arrived at the naval base in Kiel on Saturday, February 16.
The Brandenburg-class frigate Bayern had just finished berthing when smoke was detected on board at around 12:30 local time.
The Kiel naval base fire brigade and Kiel city fire and rescue teams were immediately despatched to assist the frigate's crew in putting out the blaze.
The crew succeeded in extinguishing the blaze while the firefighters assisted by ensuring the effective ventilation of smoke from the ship.
A navy spokesperson has confirmed that no one on board suffered any injuries throughout the incident.
The fire was later traced to an onboard pump whose electrical cables had short-circuited.
This is the second fire-related incident to occur aboard a Brandenburg-class frigate after a minor blaze erupted on Schleswig-Holstein while it was underway in the Baltic Sea in September of last year.
