Baird Maritime

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (BIW) formally began construction of the future USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127) with a steel-cutting ceremony on Friday, November 9.

The seventy-seventh Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer will honour Lance Corporal Patrick Gallagher, a US Marine who was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during the Vietnam War.

Patrick Gallagher will be BIW's last Flight IIA configuration Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. Its onboard AEGIS Baseline 9 combat management system will boast integrated air and missile defence capability.
